- 'The same casting experience available on Microsoft's Surface Hub and Windows has finally arrived on Xbox One! Microsoft's Wireless Display app lets you wirelessly project your Windows or Android based devices to your Xbox One,' Microsoft announced.
The company explains that you can use it to stream PC games to your Xbox One and use the Xbox controller as a gamepad. It is compatible with Xbox One and Windows 10 (version 18288.0 or later). You can stream PC games from Steam and other sources. However, it will not allow you to stream protected video content from apps such as Netflix. The system appears to be based on Miracast technology.

You may be familiar with a similar app from Valve whose Steam Link hardware was launched in 2015. The hardware has since been discontinued as Valve has been refocusing on making Steam Link a software-based app solution for various platforms such as TVs, and mobile devices. However, Steam Link is not available on Xbox One so Microsoft's solution fills in a spot.
The ‘Wireless Display' app is free and can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. The company is also working on a game streaming service named Project xCloud.
